About Amoxicillin
Amoxicillin – is an antibiotic drug which is known all over the world such names as: Alphamox, Amoxil, Trimox and etc. the drug belongs to a group of antibiotic compounds called penicillins.
The drugs effect is considered to be bacteriostatic thus it does not kill the bacteria but prevents its replication.
The preparation is not effective agains viral strains of origin as it only affects bacterial cells and the synthesis of certain enzymes in the bacterial cells. What does amoxicillin treat?
Amoxicillin is prescribed to treat infections due to specific strains of common bacteria which cause the following diseases:
- Middle ear, nose and throat infections
- Throat and larynx infections
- Lower repiratory tract infections(bronchi and lungs)
- Urogenital infections
- Endothelial infections or skin infections
- Gonorrhea
The drug may also be prescribed in prophylaxis of different infections after surgery.
